When you pick your own strawberries, use two fingers to gently pinch the stem above the berry. Don’t forget to look under the leaves, as the best berries are often hidden! Choose fully red berries, steering clear of those that are still green or white. Remember to be gentle, as ripe strawberries bruise easily. Enjoy the experience of selecting fresh produce while supporting sustainable farming practices!
Fridge: To keep your fresh produce like strawberries at their best, do not wash them until you're ready to eat. Use a shallow container and place a paper towel at the bottom to absorb moisture. Loosely cover the container; strawberries stored this way should last for 2-3 days. Freezing: First, wash and thoroughly dry the strawberries. Remove the stems and freeze the berries in a single layer on a baking sheet. Once frozen, transfer them to freezer bags. These frozen strawberries are perfect for smoothies, baking, and jam, making them a great option after a fun day of pick your own strawberries or supporting sustainable farming practices.
